ASTRO Staff have worked closely with the Webinar Task Force of the ASTRO Education Committee to plan the 2017 webinar program. In addition to the ASTRO-ARRO Journal Club and eContouring webinars, a new series called Clinical Controversies was launched in January 2017. This new webinar series features timely topics in radiation oncology presented in a point- counterpoint format.
Join us on Thursday, April 27 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern time for the second in our series of Clinical Controversies webinars. “Clinical Controversies: Throw 'caution' to the wind” will present a discussion of challenging cases for accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI).
This live webinar features Gary M. Freedman, MD, professor of radiation oncology at the University of Pennsylvania, and Eleanor Harris, MD, professor and chair at the East Carolina Brody School of Medicine, and is moderated by Lillie L. Lin, MD, adjunct associate professor of radiation oncology, department of radiation oncology, Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.
Attendees will learn to identify clinical cases of early-stage breast cancer that are potentially eligible for APBI, whole breast radiation and/or omission of radiation; differentiate clinical and pathological eligibility criteria for APBI into categories of suitability based upon current ASTRO guidelines; and contrast the different methods currently used for APBI.
Participants can earn SA-CME for attending these webinars. The number of credits available varies by webinar. Visit the Webinar section of ASTRO.org for pricing information and to register.
The January webinar, “Clinical Controversies: Hypofractionation in prostate cancer” is now available as an on-demand webinar. Don’t forget to watch for ASTRO’s fall Clinical Controversies webinar, which will discuss the pros and cons of whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT) versus stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for brain metastasis. John Suh, MD, FASTRO, and Eric Chang, MD, FASTRO, have previously debated on this topic—it should be a very lively and informative event.
Other planned webinars for 2017 include: eContouring, coding, health policy, guidelines, ASTRO-ARRO Journal Clubs for residents and others. For more information about ASTRO webinars, please visit the website or contact [email protected]
